Welcome to Debbie Payne Expressions
I love the warmth of the sun, the colour yellow and honey. My nature name is Sunbee. As an optimist and continual learner, I embraced my retirement (or reinventment as I liked to call it. I began doing Tai Chi, and I used the creativity I applied in work to express myself through fine art, literature, and crochet.

Fine Art
I am a self-taught artist and paint in both acrylic and watercolour. I joined a vibrant community of artists as a member of the South Delta Artists Guild located in Tsawwassen, BC. Some of my paintings are shown and for sale at Gallery 1710 in Tsawwassen. I love to experiment and learn something every time I paint.

Literature
Literature is a body of written work. Expressing myself through writing poetry, books and articles provides me with a creative outlet using the rhythm and joy of words to communicate. The written word is powerful communication. I read others' words and am inspired by the way in which the words sink deeply, inspire me, make me laugh or cry, and reflect on their meaning. Sometimes for me they feel like a warm hug and other times the words make me question my beliefs about myself and the world. I hope a few of my words will provide you with something to ponder. I intend to begin writing my first novel soon.

Crochet
I started crocheting when I went into retirement. I have made toques, scarves, fingerless gloves, stuffed animals, baby and kids items, sweaters, vests, purses and blankets of all sizes. I continue to experiment learning new crochet stitches. Most of my yarn when possible is sourced from thrift stores, recycled, or passed on from other people. It’s a way of recycling or taking the old and making something new
